Last September, Scooby-Doo turned 50 years old. Five decades of TV shows and films having reunited families and entertained many generations throughout the years. Throughout the aforementioned course of 50 years, the âgangâ has chased down and unmasked evil civilians turned monsters in an effort to make the cartoon world a better one. No matter what generation one pertains to, everyone is familiar with the group composed of four teenagers and one dog crime-solvers that travel in the Mystery Machine in search of the worldâs best mysteries.
On Sept. 13, 1969, CBS premiered âScooby-Doo, Where Are You!â With catchy phrases and expressions such as âMy glasses! I canât see without my glassesâ or âZoinks!â The show has endured five decades entertaining many families along way under the production of the Hanna-Barbera studio.
In order to celebrate half a century of entertainment, laughter and fright, the first season of the mystery-solversâ new TV show, âScooby-Doo And Guess Who?â was released last July and stretched until mid-September.
The new series recovers the original Scooby-Doo soundtrack, âScooby-Doo, Where Are You!â in remake-fashion, although the original soundtrackâs voice, Larry Marks, has been kept alive for the occasion.
The recently-released showâs first season is comprised of a total of 19 brand new episodes featuring Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo as they travel the world in the Mystery Machine hoping to unmask and end the fear in a series of different countries, with each episode taking place in a different nation. But that is not the only surprise in store for the viewers.
Facing some of their yet worst mysteries, the so-called meddling kids join forces with celebrities such as Australian singer-songwriter Sia, English stand-up comedian Ricky Gervais (âAfter Lifeâ), or American actor Kenan Thompson (âSaturday Night Liveâ), besides renowned long-standing cartoon superheroes Batman or Wonder Woman or well-known fiction literature detective Sherlock Holmes.
âScooby-Doo And Guess Who?â not only explores the various mysteries nationally in our different states such as Florida, Illinois, or Pennsylvania, but also internationally in cities and countries such as London, England, Egypt, or Greece and fictional cities such as Bruce Wayne (Batman)âs Gotham City.
Though, the release of âScooby Doo And Guess Who?â has sparked mixed reactions among fans. While many are excited for Scoobyâs persistence throughout these past five decades, others argue whether it is âpossibleâ for Scooby to turn fifty years old.
Frank Welker, the long-standing voice actor for the gangâs canine, joined the cast back in 1969. The then-23-year-old novice voice actor made an impact on the childhood of many. Today, some of these then-toddlers argue whether it is reasonable for Welker to remain as the actor who brings Scooby-Doo to life through the onto our TV screens.
In fact, today Welker not only brings Scooby to life, but does the same for Fred, something he has been doing for over a decade since the year 2002.
Nonetheless, the meddling kids are back on our screens. For our parents, it is a journey back to their childhood. For the younger ones, it is a chance to get a taste of what their parents watched when they were little and enjoy an evening of TV with the family.
