Oswego States holds semi-annual blood drive

RedCross= Jenna Earl and Geneva Fortune

Oswego State’s semi-annual blood drive took place Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

"We’ve been pretty successful," said Geneva Fortune, a worker at the Red Cross. College campuses are a good place to hold blood drives because everyone on campus is old enough to donate blood and there are thousands of healthy teenagers.

According to Geneva, there have been shortages in New York due to the bad weather; Also, the Red Cross does not receive a large amount of blood during the winter and summer times. The weather is nice, people are on vacation and school is not in session, so there are less participants.

While the the Red Cross needs donations of all blood type, the types most in need are O negative, O positive, A negative and B negative.
