Dance troupe brings style and movement to Oswego

In collaboration with Syracuse University, Oswego State will bring Paul Taylor Dance Company’s smaller troupe, Taylor 2, on Tuesday, Oct. 27, for a series of master classes.

The group will lead classes ranging from beginner to advanced throughout the day that target both students and dancers from the community.

Considered one of America’s greatest choreographers, Paul Taylor established Taylor 2 in 1993, and it has since toured venues from Alaska to Africa. This smaller ensemble has provided extensive community outreach and performances in more intimate settings than would be possible for their parent company.

Master classes at SUNY Oswego will take place in Lee Hall’s dance studio Oct. 27 with the beginner-level class at 12:45 p.m., the intermediate class at 2:20 p.m., and an intermediate to advanced class at 4:30 p.m.

Taylor 2’s visit to Oswego State is made possible as part of an extended residency at Syracuse University supported by the New York State Council on the Arts.

To register for the classes, contact Joyce Molinari at 312-4581 or by e-mail at joyce.molinari@oswego.edu.

Performances by Taylor 2 will be held at 8 p.m. Nov. 6 and 7 at the Crouse Hinds Concert Theatre in the Mulroy Civic Center in Syracuse. They are part of the Post-Standard Classics Series sponsored by the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra in partnership with Syracuse University.
