On Oct. 19, 2025, the Louvre Museum, located in Paris, France, was robbed. The thieves left with an emerald necklace, a pair of emerald earrings that belonged to Empress Marie Louise, a tiara and a single earring from the sapphire set that belonged to Queen Marie-Amelie and Queen Hortense, as well as the Requilary Brooch. All of these items are estimated to be worth over $102 million. The thieves dressed as renovation workers and managed to get a truck that had a freight lift to climb through the window, which triggered an alarm, alerting staff members. While that was taking place, they cut the glass of the displayed jewels and took them, then left through the same window they came in from.
This robbery is honestly impressive. The ability of these thieves to steal from the worldâs most visited museum that holds some of the worldâs most iconic pieces, such as the âMona Lisa,â is incredible. Which brings the question: how did the most-visited museum in the world get robbed? People would assume that since the museum has so many historic artifacts, it would have top-of-the-line security. However, two people were able to get in and out of the museum, threaten guards and successfully get what they wanted within seven minutes. It does not help that a report stated that one of the rooms in the area that was raided does not have any cam not safely protected if anyone can break in and steal these historic items.
Since this heist has taken place, a large number of people have made fun of the fact that the Louvre was robbed. This has included people dressing up as thieves, imitating the way they assume the robbery happened or saying they hope that the thieves get away with it (Which, spoiler alert, they did not, the two suspects have been arrested). The whole heist has brought laughter to many around the world, leaving people wondering what is to happen next with the Louvre after this robbery.
