New chapter; A long awaited dream

Becoming Editor-In-Chief (EIC) was always a dream of mine since before I even joined The Oswegonian.

Once I fell in love with journalism, I knew I had to get involved. I quickly found The Oswegonian and never left. This organization has been such an important part of my journey throughout college, I could not be more thrilled and grateful to be elected as the next EIC. I am extremely honored to be able to represent The Oswegonian as a leader, but this organization would not be where it is today without the amazing staff that has come along the way.

Since joining The Oswegonian as a sophomore two years ago, I have looked up to the staff. Everyone here makes this paper so special. I can confidently say that I will continue to use the inspiration they have given me till my days at SUNY Oswego come to close. And to all the staff members graduating this May, you are all going to go on and do amazing things. Thank you for all the hard work you have put in. I cannot wait to see what you all accomplish. And when I see you writing for The New York Times, I will be telling everyone that I knew you back in college.

Before my role as EIC begins, it is important that I give a thank you to Dan Rys, our current EIC. He took on the role incredibly. Dan has and will continue to inspire me as I navigate my way through being EIC. I owe the biggest thanks to him and I hope I am able to fill the shoes of EIC as well as Dan did.

As far as my plans for being EIC go, I plan on keeping The Oswegonian as perfect as it is. A student-run newspaper certainly comes with its quirks, but that is what makes it so special. Anywhere from the talented comics, the vast opinions and especially the hilarious April Fools Edition. These are all parts of the paper that I cherish. And as long as they are family friendly, I cannot wait to see them in the paper all throughout next year. But more importantly, I just plan on being the best leader I can possibly be. Something as special and unique as The Oswegonian certainly deserves it. Thank you to everyone who has believed in me, I will not let you down and let us make next year at The Oswegonian amazing.
