Laker Quick Recap: Men’s hockey vs. Plattsburgh State (SUNYAC Semifinals)
The Oswego State men’s hockey team (16-9-1, 12-3-1 SUNYAC) was victorious in the SUNYAC Semifinals with a 4-1 win over Plattsburgh State (10-14-3, 6-8-2 SUNYAC).
The Lakers advance to the SUNYAC Championships in Geneseo to face the Knights on Saturday, March 7.

FIRST PERIOD
- The Lakers opened up scoring first at 1:33 of the first period after Travis Broughman had a one-timer rebound that found its way past Jimmy Poreda. Josh Zizek had the original shot. Carson Vance received the secondary assist. 1-0 Oswego State
- Tanner Spink committed a boarding minor at 16:15 of the opening period against Mike Falagna. Oswego State killed the penalty unscathed.
- At the end of the period, Zizek was called for a slashing minor at 20:00, forcing the Lakers to kill a penalty to begin the second period.

SECOND PERIOD
- Oswego State started the penalty kill from Josh Zizek’s slashing minor right at the start of the period. The Lakers killed the penalty.
- At 4:41, Christian DiFelice was called for tripping Jody Sullivan, giving the Lakers their first power play of the game.
- Travis Broughman notched his second goal of the game at 5:17 after taking a wrist shot at the bottom of the circle and hit the top of the net, over the shoulder of Jimmy Poreda. Assists went to Jody Sullivan and Max Novick. 2-0 Oswego State.
- Just a few minutes later with 12:32 left, Joey Scorpio took a shot from the opposite circle after a pass from Derek Brown, getting the shot inside Jimmy Poreda to hit the twine. Oswego State leads 3-0.
- Carter Allen was called for interference at 11:37 of the second period. Oswego State killed that penalty as well.
- Tyler Antonucci and Liam Lawson were both given penalties with 40.5 seconds remaining in the period. Both of the minors were for roughing, sending the game to four-on-four hockey.
- To end the second period, Josh Zizek got a feed from Michael Gillespie through the crease after getting Poreda out of position. Zizek took the wrist shot and hit the back of the wide open net at 19:37 of the middle period. Oswego State leads 4-0.
- END 2: Lakers lead the Cardinals 4-0.

- With 15:37 left in the third period, Joe Drabin was called for a slashing minor. The Lakers were sent to the power play for just the second time of the night. The penalty was killed.
- At 7:32, Mac Lewis was called for interference, sending the Lakers back to the penalty kill.
- Andrew Pizzo took a shot from the point with 11:38 remaining in the period on the power play and got it past Steven Kozikoski. Assists to Joe Kile and Christian DiFelice. Plattsburgh State only trails by three, 4-1.
- Mac Lewis drew a high-sticking minor against Andrew Pizzo at 10:17, sending Oswego State to the power play for the third time of the night. The penalty was killed.
- With 4:49 remaining, Mitchell Hale was called for indirect contact to the head (elbowing) giving the Lakers another power-play opportunity. The penalty was killed.
- Jimmy Poreda was pulled for the extra skater with 2:00 left in regulation, trailing by three.
- FINAL: Oswego State wins 4-1.
POST-GAME
- Oswego State (16-9-1, 12-3-1 SUNYAC) now advances to the SUNYAC Championship game against SUNY Geneseo at the Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena on Saturday
- Plattsburgh State (10-14-3, 6-8-2 SUNYAC) is done for the season following the loss in the semifinals.
