Laker Gameday Preview: Oswego State @ Williams College

Last Game Recap

Yesterday, the Ephs fell to the Lakers by a score of 7-2 to move to 8-1-0 overall on the season. The Lakers shined as they registered five goals in the third period.

Freshman Madison Byrne earned herself her first collegiate point, assisting Jacquelin White on the game’s first goal in the first period. White leads the Lakers in goals with eight on the season so far.

Williams goaltender, Christian Cleroux, played 44:47 of the game but was switched out with Marissa Anderson for the remaining 15:13.

Senior Alexa Aramburu had a huge impact on the third period, producing three of the five goals scored. Madrigal was in net for the Lakers, making 29 saves throughout the game.

Goalie Matchup

Lakers- Mariah Madrigal

Madrigal has proved to be a force to be reckoned with on the ice this season. So far this season, Madrigal has made 153 saves, earning a .911 SV%. In the first game against Williams, Madrigal was a key component to the success of the Lakers, making 29 saves throughout the game. It’s probable that you will see her on the ice today as the Lakers take on the Ephs for the second time this weekend.

Ephs- Christina Cleroux

Cleroux earned the start yesterday and made 17 saves throughout the game but was switched with Anderson, who played for the last 15 minutes of the game. During that time, Anderson let in three Oswego State goals. It is possible that Williams will start Cleroux again, but it could go either way.

Players to Watch

Lakers- Alexa Aramburu

Aramburu proved to be a power forward in yesterday’s game. Her speed and agility on the ice earned her three goals against Williams, giving her a total of six goals on the season. She is definitely going to bring all she has on the ice with her today for the second game against Williams.

Ephs- Emily Krueger

Krueger has had pretty big shoes to fill this season after Williams top scoring forward, Michaela Levine, graduated. Last season, Krueger played in 24 games scoring five goals and had seven assists. This year she’s only scored one goal so far this season, but there’s a chance that she’s going to bring it all out on the ice today to try to save Williams from another loss against the Lakers.

Game Prediction

The Lakers have proved to be having one of the strongest seasons in Oswego State history. The new dynamic of the team has made them nearly unstoppable on the ice. Today, the Lakers are going to show up and play strong, just like they have all season, and pull out another Laker win. Williams might get a few good shots on goal, but the Lakers definitely have this one.
