For the past four years senior forward and assistant captain Neil Musselwhite of the Oswego State men’s ice hockey team has dazzled teammates, coaches, opponents and fans with his skating ability. Set to compete for national championship

Last year, the Oswego State Equestrian Team made a name for itself on the national level when sophomore Jennifer Nagel won the AQHA Highpoint Rider National Championship. The feat has been conquered only once in 43 years from a school east of Ohio and north of Virginia. Full story

Broken wrist sidelines Levy for senior season

The Oswego State baseball team will be without one of its captains and best players for the remainder of the season due to a broken hand. Senior Mike Levy was the Lakers starting shortstop and number two hitter in the batting order before he heard a pop while taking a swing during a game in South Carolina over spring break. Full story

Lacrosse drops SUNYAC game at home

It was a frustrating day for coach Witmer and the Lakers men’s lacrosse team as they fell to the SUNY Potsdam Bears, 15-11, at Laker Field. The game started out with a flurry of Potsdam attacks as the Bears took a 3-0 lead in the first five minutes. Full story

Current Sports Information Director Adele Burk brings consistency, sustainability to position

For the third time in the past four years the Oswego State Sports Information Department had to search for a new director to manage the university’s 24 intercollegiate sports. Adele Burk was hired over the summer to replace Mark Coley, who resigned after just one year as Oswego State’s Sports Information Director (SID).

Lakers swept in weekend series with Plattsburgh

Baseball team surrenders 31 runs, 37 hits in doubleheader loss to hot-hitting Cardinals

The Lakers dropped a pair of slugfests to arch rival SUNY Plattsburgh, losing 21-12 in game one and 10-7 in game two. In game one, the Lakers found themselves trailing 3-0 after the Cardinals’ bats chased starting pitcher Dan Erne out of the game after just four batters.

Lakers routed by nationally-ranked Cortland

Offense stymied by Red Dragon defense, held to three goals in home finale

Nationally-ranked SUNY Cortland out-scored the Oswego State men’s lacrosse team 12-2 in the second half as the Red Dragons handed the Lakers a 15-3 loss on Wednesday at Laker Field. Cortland held a small 4-1 halftime lead due in part to the play of Oswego State senior goalie and co-captain Judd Robinson, who made 12 saves during the first two periods.

Lacrosse team exceeds fundraising goal during fourth annual St.Baldrick’s event

The Oswego State men’s lacrosse team wrapped up their fourth year supporting the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a charity aimed at finding a cure for childhood cancer. Since the annual event’s inception, the team had raised over $67,000.

Student-athletes find balance between academics, athletics

Programs designed to help student-athletes

It’s demanding, time consuming and competitive. Time management is key. This task is not meant for everyone, however, there are about 450 student athletes at Oswego State. Student-athletes have very demanding schedules between practices, games, classes and homework.

Football program remains void

There are over 20 athletic programs at Oswego State, but one popular sport that Oswego State does not have is football. But it has not always been that way. From the early 1920s to 1976, there was an Oswego State football team. But the reason for the disappearance after 1976 is still a mystery to many people, even Oswego State Athletic Director Tim Hale and Shane Liebler from the Alumni office.
