Senate agrees to keep funding for music organizations
Oswego State music ensembles will continue to be funded by S.A. next year, despite fears that all funding for the organizations would be cut within the next five years. An agreement made between the music department and S.A., which said that music organizations will no longer have caps on the number of students who can participate, saved the funding.
New initiatives to help make SUNY financially, environmentally stable
During today’s tough economic times, SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher has taken action against energy depletion. Chancellor Zimpher has released “The Power of SUNY,” a strategic plan for 2010 and the upcoming decade. The release, approximately 20 pages in length, details SUNY’s efforts in multiple areas to contribute to the economy and revive employment across New York State.
Oswego State’s president Deborah Stanley said the debate surrounding Secretary of the Army John McHugh and the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy has become overheated. Stanley also said that she would more than likely wear a button advocating for the policy’s end when McHugh visits campus on May 15, but only if she and others cannot meet with McHugh before his commencement remarks.
