Lakers dominate the Mustangs, win 5-1

Oswego State got back to its winning ways and defeated SUNY Morrisville, 5-1, Friday night at the Marano Campus Center Ice Arena. With the win, the Lakers improve to 2-3-1 and the Mustangs fall to 1-6, with both team’s records identical in SUNYAC conference play as well.

The Lakers dominated on both ends of the ice, outshooting the Mustangs 45-19

Junior Andrew Barton led the way for the Lakers with three goals and now raises his total to four on the season, which leads the team. This was the first hat trick of Barton’s career. Freshman Cameron Berry assisted on two of his goals for his first two points of the regular season.

Junior-transfer Adrian Ignagni, who transferred from Div. I Niagara University, got his first regular season start of the season and impressed, allowing only one goal on 19 shots.

The other scorers for Oswego were Alex Botten, who scored the first goal of the game on an open shot near the slot, David Ferreira who scored in the second period.

Danny Lisico scored the lone goal for the Mustangs, capitalizing on his team’s power play opportunity late in the first period.

Both teams will meet tomorrow night, however they will switch locations as Oswego heads to Morrisville. The Lakers will be looking to get back to .500 with a win. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m.
