Campus Recreation Report

The Beach Volleyball Championships came to an end this past weekend, and the Co-Rec and men’s Championship winners were crowned.
The playoffs began with the semifinals on Friday in the Men’s Competitive League. Bikini Bottom easily earned itself a trip to the finals beating The Weapons two sets to one. To Kill a Blocking Bird and The Big Dip faced off in the second semifinal match of the day to determine who would play Bikini Bottom. The first set was a blowout with To Kill a Blocking Bird dominating The Big Dip 25-12. However, The Big Dip came back with a win the second set, but in the end it was To Kill a Blocking Bird that came out victorious, winning the game two sets to one.
The playoffs continued Sunday with the Co-Rec semifinals. What Are Those?! set, bumped and spiked their way to victory over B Deep Reloaded to earn itself a place in the championship game. It won the first set, 25-13, and the second set, 25-15.
During the other Co-Rec semifinal matchGab Likes To Get Bumped just edged out That’s What She Set to advance to the finals. It won the first set, 25-18, fell short in their second set, 25-16, and pulled out a win in the final set, 25-18, to take home the victory.
It was Bikini Bottom versus To Kill a Blocking Bird in the Men’s Competitive Championship. Both teams had proven to be hard to beat up until this point. To Kill a Blocking Bird took the first set, winning 25-22. During the second set Bikini Bottom was able to pull out the win 25-21. Bikini Bottom just didn’t have the same energy in the third set, as it fell short, 25-13, making To Kill a Blocking Bird the champions.
The Co-Rec Championship game featured Gab Likes to Get Bumped and What Are Those?!. Both teams brought their A game to the finals. Gab Likes to Get Bumped won the first set, 26-16, while What Are Those?! won the second set, 25-17. During the final set, Gab Likes to Get Bumped took an early lead. However, What Are Those?! never gave up and came back to tie the score twice. Gab Likes to Get Bumped was one point away from the championship when What Are Those?! came back to tie the game, forcing the score to go to at least 26. In the end, Gab Likes to Get Bumped was able to seal the deal, winning the final set 26-24.
At the end of the day, To Kill a Blocking Bird and Gab Likes to Get Bumped took home not only the title of Beach Volleyball Champions, but also the championship intramural T-shirt.
