Limited interest in six-person housing in The Village and problems with the lottery system used to place students caused minor problems with the selection process earlier this week. As soon as fall 2010, Oswego State students could be checking mail and receiving status updates via a somewhat “lighter” campus e-mail system. The Campus Technology Advisory Board (CTAB) has made the decision to host the college’s e-mail client in the “clouds” by means of Google’s popular e-mail service, Campus Techology Services Chief Operating Officer Joseph Moreau said.

Committee looks to centralize stance on academic dishonesty

The Oswego State committee in charge of plagiarism has begun a search to form a centralized way to handle cheating on campus. The committee is looking for a way to provide faculty with the tools to prevent it from happening. “One charge was to review the existing policy and do some cleaning up and the other charge was to try to provide guidance to faculty so that there would be a more consistent approach to handling issues of academic misconduct across the campus,” said David Bozak, chair of the Intellectual Integrity Committee.

Despite trailing by three goals early in the first period, the Oswego State men’s ice hockey team scored eight of the final ten goals to defeat SUNY Morrisville, 8-5, Saturday night at the Campus Center Ice Arena in the SUNYAC semi-finals. The Lakers (24-2-0 overall, 15-1-0 SUNYAC) received a hat trick from freshman forward Tyler Leimbrock and sophomore goalie Paul Beckwith came off the bench to record 16 saves, as Oswego State punched its ticket to the SUNYAC title game against archrival SUNY Plattsburgh.
